Samarth Mahajan [IIT KGP/ME/MS Hall/2014] is a non-fiction filmmaker based in Mumbai. Recognised by IIT Kharagpur as a Young Alumni Achiever, he is passionate about telling human stories from India that remain invisible to the mainstream.
'The Unreserved', his national award-winning feature about passengers in the third class of Indian Railways, premiered at Film Southasia 2017 and received broadcast & theatrical releases in India.
He is currently directing 'Borderlands' - about how everyday lives intertwine with borders in the Indian subcontinent. It featured as a work-in-progress at the 2020 Marché du Film - the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival.
